Where the Trail Began

The World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan marks the beginning—or the end—of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail. Here, 2,977 lives are commemorated at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, where the Twin Towers once stood.

The New York section connects to the trail via Liberty State Park in New Jersey, accessible by ferry or the extensive Hudson River Greenway system. This is sacred ground—the starting point of a 1,500+ mile journey of remembrance.
